About our books

mentalpropell.com is a non-profit platform and publishing initiative supporting photo-based artists who approach the book as an artistic practice. All our book projects are developed in close collaboration between the artists and the publisher.

We work with artists such as Annica Thomsson, Eirik V Johnsen, Kristian Pohl, Susanne Walström, Johan Bergmark, Helge Kaasin, Lavasir Nordrum, Staffan Bengtsson, Hilde Maisey, and others.

mentalpropell.com was founded by Annica Thomsson and Eirik V Johnsen in 1999 as a platform for exploring the conditions of the photographic image in an increasingly digital world. Since 2019, our primary focus has been the book, and over the past 2–3 years we have become increasingly dedicated to the Artist book as a medium.
